Reddit user SheeplessWolf posted a short clip from one of their Apex Legends matches, in which they appear to see a dog in-game. SheeplessWolf and their squad are looking around the Harvester location of Apex Legends’ World’s Edge map. There are only 10 players left alive in the match, so the situation is tense. Suddenly, SheeplessWolf sees movement out of the upper right corner of his vision. It is, by all accounts, a dog or wolf moving in a notably canine way.

The dog, or whatever it may be, is too far away to make out any specific coloring or texture. All that’s clear is its general shape and the way it moves. The figure very much looks like it has a head and snout, as well as a tail. It also looks like it’s running in a canine manner, with its front legs crossing with its back legs mid-gallop.
Those familiar with Apex Legends will know that there are no dogs in the game, at least not yet. That’s why players are already speculating about what the dog, or at least the dog-like shape, might actually be. If it’s assumed that it’s actually a dog and not something else, players have some theories. The most popular theory being that it could be a teaser for new character Loba, who might have a wolf pet or ability.
The more popular theory is that what SheeplessWolf sees isn’t a dog or wolf at all. Rather, it’s a trick of the eyes. SheeplessWolf explains that when they go to investigate the dog, all they find is a solo Bangalore player. Players theorize that the dog isn’t a dog at all, but rather the Bangalore exploiting an invisibility glitch that only shows the player’s weapon. Given the distance at which SheeplessWolf sees the dog, it creates a weird artifact-y floating weapon that somehow looks like a dog.
The unsolved mystery of the Apex Legends dog is unlikely to be solved any time soon. But if you’re Respawn Entertainment and you definitely haven’t put a dog into the game yet, this has to be a hilarious situation.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
