However, the big question audiences may have, considering the significant length of the movie, is whether there’s a reason to stick around after the credits for anything extra. Marvel movies like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have increased expectations for post-credits scenes, but does Avatar: The Way of Water have one?

Is There A Post-Credits Scene in Avatar 2?

In the climax of the movie, Jake and his family face the ultimate pain of losing a child. Their oldest son Netayam sadly dies after being shot in the fight. After a tense standoff in which Quaritch and Neytiri both say they will kill the other’s child, Quaritch spares Kiri in order to save Spider. Jake seemingly kills Quaritch, but he and Neytiri are separated and trapped in the sinking ship. Just when it seems all hope is lost, Lo’ak, who has struggled in the shadow of his brother, helps lead his father to safety, while Neytiri and Tuk follow a trail of glowing fish controlled by Kiri in order to find their way out.

During the escape, Spider spots Quaritch underwater, and reluctantly drags him to the surface, seemingly to repay him for not allowing him to die. Spider makes it clear, however, that he and Quaritch do not have a relationship, and that he was simply repaying a debt.

Back at the sea village, Jake and his family lay Netayam to rest in the ocean. It’s a fairly conclusive ending, but there may be an inclination among audience members to wait and see if there’s anything else to tease an upcoming Avatar story. So should people stay in their seats after the over three-hour movie starts to roll its credits?

The short answer here is no, there is no post-credits scene in Avatar: The Way of Water. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any reason to stick around for a few minutes after the end of the film. When the credits start rolling, audiences are treated to some extra footage of Pandora that is still just beautiful to look at. On top of that, there’s the chance to listen to the Weeknd’s newest track written for the movie, “Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength).”

For those who have managed to sit through the entire movie without taking a bathroom break, the urge to leave may be too strong to resist. If that’s the case, just know that there aren’t any secret teases or hints at what is to come in the world of Avatar. It’s safe to leave once the movie concludes.

Avatar: The Way of Water is now playing in theaters in standard, 3D, and 3D IMAX formats.
