The move saves the Dolphins more than $5 million in cap space and actually gives the Rams roughly $3 million more in cap room after they initially gave Finnegan a five-year, $50 million contract with $27 million in guaranteed money.

Finnegan, who spent his first six seasons with the Titans, made the Pro Bowl in 2008 but has also had a plethora of on-field scuffles. He’s been voted as one of the NFL’s dirtiest players and famously got into a fight with Texans receiver Andre Johnson in 2010.
Finnegan has 18 interceptions (four returned for touchdowns) and seven sacks in nine NFL seasons. He had just one interception and zero sacks in the last two years.
